Ambassador Tea was founded and run by the de Lanerolle family.
Mohan de Lanerolle is considered a pioneer in the trade having over 30 years of experience. He was responsible for bringing and setting up the first tea bagging machine in Sri Lanka.
Mohan de Lanerolle also managed the Constanta/Perfecta
Agency for TeePack for 22 years and is recommended
by the manufacturer as a specialist on the machines
and in the setting up and operation of tea bag
and loose tea packaging lines.
Between Mohan de Lanerolle and his younger brother Rohan de Lanerolle one can safely say that 98% of all Constanta and IMA packaging plants in Sri Lanka were set up by them.
Mohan de Lanerolle retired from Akbar Brothers as a director
after 22 years to form Ambassador Tea. Over the
years they have developed and set up numerous tea
bagging plants internationally from single machine
lines to the most sophisticated plants in the world
